The Apple
dir. Menahem Golan

It's a natural, natural, natural desire to love the hell out of this movie.
Dressed to Kill
dir. Brian De Palma

It's not my favorite De Palma movie, but it is a De Palma movie, so you knew it had to end up on here.
The Elephant Man
dir. David Lynch

The one movie that can consistently turn me into a quivering pile of Jell-O.
Inferno
dir. Dario Argento

Did you like Suspiria, but get annoyed by the lack of narrative logic and cohesion? This movie probably isn't for you.
The Ninth Configuration
dir. William Peter Blatty

Just look at that poster and tell me with a straight face you don't wanna drop everything you're doing right now and watch this movie.
Out of the Blue
dir. Dennis Hopper

The best movie Dennis Hopper directed.
Raging Bull
dir. Martin Scorsese

Another feel-good movie from 1980.
The Shining
dir. Stanley Kubrick

The movie that forever instilled in me a deep-seated fear/hatred of the abominations unto God that are twins. (see also: Twins)
Urban Cowboy
dir. James Bridges

John Travolta plays the ultimate macho douchebag in this movie...except for the other guy in this movie who's worse than him.
Used Cars
dir. Robert Zemeckis

Two words: Kurt Russell. 'Nuff said.
The nearly made its: The Blues Brothers, Caddyshack, The Stunt Man, and Superman II.

Nice choices, I need to see Out of the Blue. Welcome aboard the blogathon
Glad to come aboard.
Some of your movies here are too scary for me, no way that I could handle The Shining. I'm curious about Brian De Palma's Dressed to Kill though.
Great list I liked "Dressed TO Kill" and "Raging Bull". Loved "The Shining". Need to see "Out Of The Blue" and The Ninth COnfiguration"
Can't recommend Out of the Blue, Dressed to Kill and Ninth Configuration highly enough.
Wow... what a great selection of movies... a great year to be born in :-)
Yeah, I kinda forgot how many great movies were released that year until I made this list.
I haven't seen a couple of those. Caddyshack would have been on a list I would have made. is it Oscar worthy? Not a chance, but it's fun as hell.
Caddyshack almost made it. It was really hard deciding the top ten here.
