My brother John and I review the Sylvester Stallone vehicle Cliffhanger. We also discuss the careers of Stallone and director Renny Harlin. You can listen to the podcast here.
Dave - what's keeping you from revisiting these films (up until you do a show on them)? Shit man, Cliffhanger should be watched at least every five years, and Demolition Man every year (hell, I think it's on TV enough).
I'm half-ashamed to say that those two are probably my favorite Stallone films. I'm the rare child of the 80s that STILL has yet to see a Rambo flick. Always loved Rocky IV but I'm not sure I've seen the original from start to finish, etc. Hell, Cliffhanger might have been the first of his I saw in a theater. Weird, I know. I guess I was just always an Ahnuld guy (and then a JCVD guy).
Though I did watch Over the Top for the first time about a year ago. Wow, was that (not quite) fantastically bad. I did appreciate the cheese, but you're right about it not being in the "so bad it's good" category. It's mostly bad, but worthy of a nostalgic watch, at least.
And indeed - Lithgow can do almost no wrong.
LOL at calling Rooker "Henry: Portrait..." the whole time. Now do a Mallrats show and repeat!

Yeah, I was afraid the "Henry: Portrait..." thing might get old after a while, but a lot of people seemed to enjoy that running joke.
After rewatching Cliffhanger, I was upset with myself for not having rewatched it sooner. It's still a hoot.
